NOTES FROM THE STREET HOSPITALITY TEAMS
The street teams have been out, and here are some of the notes from their log:
· “It was a great first night out. We made positive contacts with several people both on the streets and in parks. Many had never heard of ONW and all we contacted were grateful for the warm coffee, socks, sandwiches, and especially the conversation. Definitely looking forward to next week.”
· “I was very encouraged by the receptivity of the people. It was really easy to just have a seat and visit with people that we encountered. I just know I’m where I’m supposed to be in this outreach.”
· “Very receptive groups. Gave out hand warmers, safety pins, sewing and first aid kits, Kleenex, etc.”
· “Ran into L—, who I have not seen in years, She is very ill. A great first time out. Dispensed coffee and sandwiches to 3 people, did not converse very long. One person needed antibiotic cream.”
· (Commenting on specific individual encounters:) “All were struggling with wetness. E— and D— suffered theft and beating, but were dealing very well. D-- was looking for a partner but hadn’t met anyone strong enough, so I suggested E--. T-- looked in rough shape. On ‘do not admit’ list at Nightwatch.”
